Sky Lanterns as they are sometimes referred to are a beautiful way to commemorate a special occasion or celebraation. However as with all products there are some simple safety guidelines set out below for your protection and ultimately enjoyment which must be adhered to…
Sky Lanterns Safety Advice…
1: Read and obey these safety instructions for launch.
2: It’s much easier to launch our Sky Lanterns with two people.
3: Remove the Sky Lanterns very carefully from the packaging. They are very delicate and easily torn.
4: Unfold the Sky Lantern and carefully open it out. Take care not to tear!
5: Turn the Sky Lantern upside down holding it by its bamboo base with easy access to the fuel (burner).
6: Once the fuel is fully lit, turn the Sky Lantern right side up and hold with both hands by it’s bamboo base until you feel its ready to rise by itself. Normally less than 1 minute.
7: Give the lantern a gentle push skyward and enjoy its mesmerising beauty as it flies.
Safety instructions Do’s…
1: Our Sky Lanterns are only to be lit and operated by people over the age of 18 years.
2: Please ensure that they are used in wide open spaces!
3: Have a means of extinguishing nearby, water, sand or a damp blanket etc.
4: Only use where there are no obstructions nearby or downwind, tall buildings or trees for example.
5: Upon launch ensure all bystanders are upwind from the lantern.
Safety instructions Do Not’s…
1: DO NOT launch a damaged or torn Sky Lantern. It will not fly as designed and will be dangerous.
2: DO NOT use near tall trees or building, electricity wires or pylons.
3: DO NOT fly in rain or strong winds. Again it will not fly as designed and is wasted.
4: DO NOT launch where there are sites containing flammable materials, e.g. Gas plants or oil refineries or petrol service stations.
5: DO NOT launch within five miles of an airport. This will cause major havoc.
6: DO NOT use where there has been a long dry spell in the weather.
7: DO NOT use where the Sky Lantern could be mistaken for a distress signal, along the coasts for example.
8: DO NOT allow children to light or launch the Sky Lantern.
